Frequently Asked Questions

What is the length of the ElevateYOU Emergent Leaders Program? ​

The length of the program is 6 months. It begins in June and ends in November.  ​

When does the application period open and close? 

Application period opens annually in April. ​ The deadline to apply is the end of May 10, 2024 by 11:59 p.m. to be considered for the program.

When will I be notified if I was selected for the Program? ​

All candidates will be notified in May following the closure of the application period if they were selected to be a part of the Program.

 

How many hours are dedicated to the program?

The minimum hours dedicated to the is 16 hours (on the job hours) this does not include personal volunteered hours spent on assignments and development. 

 

Will I get paid for personal or hours worked on the program outside of my normal working hours?

No additional pay will be granted for personal hours spent on your professional development outside of JTA working hours.

 

Is there an appeal process if I do not get into the program?

Yes, there is an appeal process.  If you do not get in the program, you can request a meeting with the ElevateYOU Emergent Leaders Program Review Board Committee to discuss your application.

 

Is the program delivered online or face to face?

The program is designed to be delivered face to face.

 

Who is Eligible for the Program?  ​Anyone who meets the criteria below:

  • Desire to Lead: The program is open to employees across all departments who have a genuine aspiration to take on leadership roles regardless of their current position within the organization or those in a supervisory role who want to enhance their leadership skills and progress further in their careers.
  • Performance Record: Eligible candidates must have a demonstrated record of strong performance, commitment, and a proactive attitude in their current roles.
  • Discipline: Employee cannot have any disciplinary actions or complaints in the last consecutive twelve (12) months.  Employee cannot be on a corrective action plan or performance improvement plan.
  • Years of Service: Employed with the organization for more than twelve (12) months.
  • Commitment: Participants must commit to the full duration of the program, which includes workshops and activities.

Note: Employees must successfully complete their probationary period​ (only for employees new to JTA) and cannot be on a performance corrective action plan ​nor have any disciplinary actions within the last year.

  • Recommendation: A recommendation letter from the candidate's immediate supervisor or department head is required highlighting the individual's potential for leadership and growth.
